Notes From The Grooming Table by Melissa Verplank Spiral-bound – January 1, 2004

I am learning to become a groomer and my boss suggested I get this book. The book gives you information on tools, how to bathe and brush certain coats and different techniques that you can use. The main part of the book is the patterns for giving a proper haircut to a specific breed and some of the breeds have more than one. Basic anatomy, muscle structure, hair types, and more about nails, ears, safety practices etc are all discussed. Most of the tools I already knew about and brushing and bathing I had already learned from my work experience but there is tons of dog breeds in this book I have not seen yet. The book contains lots of patterns and different ways to give haircuts. I am unsure with my shaving skills but just seeing in the book the lines you are supposed to follow has given me more confidence in my abilities. This book will most definitely help me in my journey to becoming a groomer.

Love this book!! I am taking a dog grooming class, and this is really helping! All the details in this book will help me tremendously as I learn all the things I need to learn about dog grooming. This will also help when I need to go back to look up things on specific breeds. Anyone needing to know anything about a specific breed of dog needs to get this book, and anyone in the dog grooming business should also get this book! The only problem I had with this book is that it took awhile to get shipped to me. I had to contact Amazon to see what the hold up was. It was suppose to get shipped on a Monday, but didn't get shipped until the following Thursday. The estimated delivery first said March 14th, and then they changed it to March 18th.

Bought this for grand daughter who recently started her grooming career. It was reccomended by her boss and it has taught her alot. She loves it. And she has place all through out it for her notes ,I saw the price and thought it was expensive but from what she was told and has learned from it,the price is worth it.

I had a copy years ago, sold due to funds at the time. Now it's less than half the cost it used to be, got this copy so that I can show references to clients, other groomers, etc. Very handy. Every dog groomer should own this book. This is the grooming Bible. Never think you know enough, there is never enough in this industry, and we're only as smart as our resources. No one can remember 100% of this book by heart, and if you can, please go on Jeopardy because that kind of memory is very rare....

A must have for new dog groomers. Even with the internet and access to a million pictures this book gives you the best idea of how to cut major dog breeds. The photos also make it easier to explain the the pets owners what a traditional look is. Although I had already been grooming for some time, I found the tips very accurate. If your serious about dog grooming this can be very helpful.

I really like this book a lot, but it would have been helpful for the beginner groomer to show summer cuts especially for the long hair breeds such as Yorkies, Maltese, and those breeds and what tools to use for summer cuts, not only the long cuts. I dearly love the spiral bound aspect and the grooming notes pages. It is a very informative book. I am grooming only small breed dogs so I really needed all the detailed information I could get on grooming them.

I am a beginner groomer and my salon manager suggested this book as a resource item. It shows the patterns for each breed with detailed illustrations and notes for all of them on what to do. I believe this is a great go to for all beginning and even amateur groomers. Advanced groomers may need it just to remind themselves of a specific pattern that they do not get to much in their shop.

After reading many great reviews we purchased this book. Very consistent information throughout. So many books or guides like this have good information on one breed but not the next. Very thick!

I love this book, it is so informative and easy to follow. the only down side is that its not really for this country, the styles are slightly different, anyone purchasing this book should keep this in mind as your dog grooming tutor will tell you. I would still recommend this book though it has sections for you to make your own notes so you could not the differences that you have to make for grooming in this country. a definite reference book for my grooming career

Excellent book. A must-have for anyone who grooms their pet whether it be as a novice or professional.A little pricey but worth the investment.
