Q: Can I not use the existing blade/key/metal instead of getting a new one cut

Yes you swap everything from the existing fob. The key and immobiliser sensor (small black chip and its white cover) into the new fob. Your car will not start without the sensor. You need to ensure the spring is on the correct way to ensure it flips out. Simple job but I recommend doing the swap over a tray so you dont lose any existing parts.

The blade wasn't the right shape for a kia soul key to be copied, even though the advert says it's for kia's. Also, this key fob obviously, doesn't have the electronic ignition start component needed to start engine. The key cutter had to order the correct kia soul blade. He then was able to copy key, attach it to this fob, as well as fitting the old but essential start engine component inside. Make sure to keep the tiny component from old key fob as it's very expensive to replace and can easily be discarded.
